An Iban traditional welcome for Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng on arrival at Rumah Aling, Pulau Brunai, Limbang on Saturday 3rd March 2018.
Penghulu Robert Kunyu in his welcoming speech mentioned this is the very first visit in many years by a Bishop in Rumah Aling. The 44 doors Iban long longhouse is located at Limbang Parish. On behalf of the community majority catholics, the Penghulu thanked Bishop for reaching out to all the Catholics to further strenghtening and consolidating their faith in GOD to face challenges in life. He was Very proud to say that the first four students from Rumah Aling studied in St Edmund School, Limbang in the 1950s.
The next day on Sunday 4th March 2018, Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng declared open and blessed the newly built chapel GEREJA SANTA MARIA INDAI ALLAH TAALA, located at 53 doors Iban longhouse Rumah Imau, Batu 9, Jalan Kubong, Limbang.
Some 420 parishioners attended the morning Mass in Iban. The new chapel was designed to cater for only about 300 capacity but today was fully packed inside and with some 120 parishioners still sitting outside the chapel.
